Yesterday, AG Bill Barr threatened the critics of police brutality by saying the communities that don’t show respect to the law enforcement might lose police protection.

Dog Whistle Racism

Barr said at the AG’s award for Distinguished Service in Policing that “American people have to focus on…the sacrifice and the service that is given by our law enforcement officers. And they have to start showing, more than they do, the respect and support that law enforcement deserves and if communities don’t give that support and respect, they might find themselves without the police protection they need.”

Of course, Fat Fred Flintstone didn’t specify which “communities” he meant but we all know who he’s talking about – the communities of color who suffer the most from and naturally are the most vocal critics of racial profiling and police brutality.

This type of throw-the-stones-and-hide-the-hand racism is one of the go-to moves of GOP playbook. And Bill Barr, as the top cop of America, just blew the dog-whistle to rile up GOP’s #bluelivesmatter #maga base.

Who is Bill Barr, again?

Bill Barr is an authoritarian grifter who believes the POTUS is above the law and a key architect of the mass incarceration policies that damaged communities of color beyond repair.

Barr auditioned to get his current position by writing an unsolicited 20-page memo criticizing then Special Counsel Bob Mueller‘s investigation on Russian election interference. Trump obviously liked the love letter and gave him the AG job. Barr then proceeded to shut down Mueller’s investigation prematurely and he again disputed the Inspector General’s report on FBI’s Russian investigation earlier this week.

Barr is also the one who, as AG of George H.W. Bush, wrote a memo in 1992 titled “The case for more incarceration.” So you can thank Bill Barr for America holding the title of having the highest incarceration rate in the world.

What about Trump, tho?

Funny and sad thing is, Trump is the one who should be stripped of police protection if we’re going by Barr’s logic as Trump routinely bashes law enforcement whenever it fits his agenda.

Guess it’s different when the disrespect is coming from a Republican white male.
