Bloomberg reports that VP Mike Pence, who once said he avoids dining alone with any woman other than his wife, has become the Wall St. guys’ role model in the #metoo era.
From sexual harassment to gender segregation
These days, finance dudes avoid dinner with female colleagues, don’t sit next to them on flights and even book hotel rooms on different floors. Oh, and no more one-on-one meetings. These overly defensive tactics of blocking women out, while potentially be effective in reducing harassment incidents, mean the boys club nature of finance world will actually be reinforced. It shouldn’t be an either-or situation between harassment and discrimination for women, and we believe the bright guys on the Wall St. should be able to figure it out.
